About ASGHR

The Autism Society Greater Hudson Region, through our 5 core service areas, creates connections, empowering individuals in the Autism community with the resources and support they need to live fully. Your support allows us to continue offering critical programs that enhance the well-being and inclusion of those we serve.

Education

SenseAble Swimming – Adaptive Aquatic Safety

Did you know that a person with Autism is 160 times more likely to drown than their neurotypical peers? That's why our SenseAble Swimming program, in collaboration with the Autism Swims Aquatics Program (ASAP), provides adaptive lessons to ensure the safety and well-being of autistic individuals in and around water.

We work closely with families to make swimming accessible and enjoyable for all, with specialized instructors trained to meet the unique needs of the Autism community.

Adult Support Group

Our Adult Support Group Service offers a safe and supportive space for autistic adults to connect, share experiences, and build meaningful relationships. Led by compassionate facilitators, the group focuses on fostering social interaction, emotional well-being, and personal growth. Whether navigating employment, independent living, or everyday challenges, participants find understanding, encouragement, and community. By attending the Gala, you are helping us sustain this vital service, empowering autistic adults in the Hudson Region to thrive and live with confidence.

Community Events

The ASGHR is dedicated to fostering connection and inclusion through a variety of engaging community events. Our signature events include the Walk for Autism, where families and supporters come together to raise awareness and celebrate the Autism community, and the Hero 5K, which encourages physical activity and camaraderie for all. For younger participants, SenseAble Play provides sensory-friendly activities designed to nurture play and social development. We also host the SenseAble Holiday Gathering, a joyful, inclusive celebration designed to bring the community together during the holiday season. By supporting the Gala, you are helping us continue these enriching events, ensuring everyone in the Autism community can participate, connect, and thrive.

We’re here to listen, understand, and connect people with the support they need to thrive.

Advocacy

ASGHR is deeply committed to advocating for the rights and well-being of the Autistic and Neurodiverse community. We work tirelessly at the local, state, and national levels to influence policies that promote inclusivity, access to services, and equitable opportunities for all. Whether it’s fighting for educational support, healthcare access, or housing options, ASGHR is a steadfast voice for the Autism community. Your participation in the Gala directly supports our ongoing advocacy efforts, helping us create a more inclusive society where every individual with Autism is empowered to live fully and thrive.
